About Me
My name is Matt Hill, and I’ve spent the last decade dedicated to education — 10 years as a teacher and 8 years as a professional tutor. I hold graduate degrees in Philosophy and History, and my work as a substitute teacher and tutor has given me hands-on experience across every academic subject. My current focus is math tutoring, though my background runs much wider.
My teaching career has taken me far beyond a typical classroom. I taught math,
business, and English as a Second Language overseas in Thailand, and later taught history, writing, and government in a rural Alaska Native village in North Alaska — an experience that deepened my appreciation for education in all its forms and contexts.
I’ve worked extensively in Special Education and have taught every grade level from Kindergarten through 12th grade. Whether I’m helping a student master algebra, develop stronger writing skills, or build confidence in a subject they’ve struggled with, I bring patience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for helping students grow— wherever they’re starting from.
